Lincity - freeware city simulation game

Next game in my freeware strategy games series is Lincity - an open source game about old SimCity city simulation game.

Lincity is about four years old, but I still could install it and run it with my Acer/Vista PC without problems. There were no technical challenges.

The game is easy to start, but for successful gaming, you’ll have to learn the features of the Lincity buildings carefully. The basic idea is simple, build factories and stores, set up residence and connect them with roads. But the difficulty is keeping all this in balance. Too much residence causes unemployment and the lack of certain component, like farm, may collapse your economy. The game is actually quite hard, and I have not been able to make it to the ultimate goal, which is building the space ship, yet.

These kind of news just enforce my will to condemn any kind of attacts against freedom of blogging.

Wordpress updated

My wordpress blog was upgraded to 2.6.1. With Fantastico interface it was a peace of cake. At the same time, I upgrated Kirnu to 1.5.6, and this time it was much easier than last time.

I’ll have to say, that after all, I’m very happy with my open source softwares WordPress and Joomla 1.5 and Fantastico update is really easy to use.

The five “citizen journalists” and activists were in Beijing to support and promote human rights, freedom of expression, and freedom for the Tibetan people.

I think that the first challenge in Pandemic 2 is to figure out, the Madagascar problem, but after that is solved, you have not won anything yet. So, How to destroy human population?

First thing to do is to spread the disease around the world. It is good to start with rodent and keep the disease hidden as long as possible. When the first shipyards are closed, make the disease airborne and
pick up symptoms, which make it spread from human to human, but still try to keep it as hidden as possible. Which one is more important, depends on the the fact, which countries you still need to infect. In other words, do you have to make it move by plane or by humans moving between borders (Peru for example).

Be patient!!! With some luck, you’ll be able to infect the whole World before even any border, shipyard or aeroport is closed.

When the disease has spread, increase the lethal symptom. You could try to build a lethal combination of symptoms, because you do not have evolution points to pick up all. Like fever and sweating do good together. And when everyone is infected, pick up only lethal symptoms.

Some tips

Try to spot big flooding and make the disease waterborne - that will do good.

Vaccine and other counter measures - change the symptoms, make the disease drug resistance to close down more hospitals.
