Walkthrough of Pandemic 2

I think that the first challenge in Pandemic 2 is to figure out, the Madagascar problem, but after that is solved, you have not won anything yet. So, How to destroy human population?

First thing to do is to spread the disease around the world. It is good to start with rodent and keep the disease hidden as long as possible. When the first shipyards are closed, make the disease airborne and
pick up symptoms, which make it spread from human to human, but still try to keep it as hidden as possible. Which one is more important, depends on the the fact, which countries you still need to infect. In other words, do you have to make it move by plane or by humans moving between borders (Peru for example).

Be patient!!! With some luck, you’ll be able to infect the whole World before even any border, shipyard or aeroport is closed.

When the disease has spread, increase the lethal symptom. You could try to build a lethal combination of symptoms, because you do not have evolution points to pick up all. Like fever and sweating do good together. And when everyone is infected, pick up only lethal symptoms.

Some tips

Try to spot big flooding and make the disease waterborne – that will do good.

Vaccine and other counter measures – change the symptoms, make the disease drug resistance to close down more hospitals.

That was only walkthrough, now you go figure out, how to get the top points and let us know.

    fever and sweating are the worst symptoms to have together. fever raises body temp and sweating lowers it. usually once my virus comes out of the closet and everyone knows about it I like to go for things like sweating, diarrhea, and kidney failure. The first two dehydrate the body which tends to mess up the kidneys anyways.

    I find it easiest to sell your starting off symptom so theres no visibility then by all 2 levels of resistance for everything then get airborne and rodents and once your disease has spread to all continents activate waterborne and insects, then once the people of earth start making a vaccine……. DESTROY them with all lethal symptoms. fever is a great starter then i go kidney failure hypersensitivity, herrorage and P.E…oh and PRAY to whatever form of god u have that madagascar gets infected. i’ve used this strategy almost everytime and i 90 % of the time get everything but madagacar, BC it’s A streetWALKER!!!. good luck happy infecting.

    Just completed it, be parasite. I started in Austrailia, sell your first symptom to get visibility to zero. Upgrade Heat/Cold (depending on your starting continent) to II. Then buy Rodent transmission.Then, concentrate on getting Moisture and Heat/Cold to II as well. Then, get insect transmission. Finally, upgrade Drug Resistance to IV. Sit back and hopefully (I did 3 times in a row) you will infect all countries. Once all countries are infected you have practically won and simply just upgrade your disease symptoms, mine killed effectively with Fever, Vomiting, Fatigue, Insanity, Depression and Sores. You don’t need all of these to kill however. Fever, vomiting and fatigue do it well.

    You have to first get the virus somewhere before you start killing everybody. Take advantage of floods and droughts with heat and cold. Use boats first to get the virus going. Then use air when you get atleast 4 countries infected, then start using symptoms. Make as many as you can so atleast they start dying. When that’s done, watch the world die slowely..

    OMG! I tried for days to get Madagascar but no… I’v always got every region, but Madagascar. I think the best thing to do is choose virus, keep fever and sneezing (if you satrt with them) otherwise buy them. Depending where you start upgrade your resistences (eg.west europe – cold II) watch where planes/boats and the populations go to and upgrade the rest of your resistences lv II – BUT moisture II. Once you have about 100Evolution points start spending them on airbourne, wait a while then buy waterbourne – nows the time to get moisture resistance lv II/+. Upgrade all your resistences if a vacine comes otherwise unlock other tiers – if you start with any symptoms and their buy cost is higher than the sell cost then there’s a high chance it’s a good symptom. But mass symptoms that are noticeable – but not visble – eg. sneezing.

    The best thing to do at the beginning is to infect at least 1 person in each region but make sure they’re not cured from hospitals (Drug resistence II/+ would be useful) and tem focus more on the resistences, then symptoms BUT if you look at transmissions once they discover one the rest are useless – lile airbourne – if countries start giving out masks then they’re gonna give otehr stuff out to other transmissions, so transmissions are only good at the beginning of the game.

    ~I find virus real good, same with bacteria but parasites just not enough points – beginners should choose bacteria!

    I was able to beat the game on realistic, including Madagascar, consistently with the following stategy.

    Sell whatever symptoms you have at the beginning.

    Buy Drug Resistance up to level 2. No higher.

    Buy cold or heat resistance all the way. Not both, just one or the other, doesnt seem to matter which.

    Buy infectivity for rodents and/or insects. It doesnt seem to matter if its one or both, although if both you might end up scaring the countries too quick.

    As disease just starts to catch, buy sneezing symptom.

    Watch as Disease begins to infect all the countries. Once you see countries begin to shut down their airports and seaports, add all infectivity symptoms and measures.

    Pray for Madagascar.

    If madagascar doesn’t get hit before it closes its seaport you have a small chance of still getting it.

    This method probably has a 1/5 chance of winning. My highest score is 22,000.

    If you want you can use the walkthrough.
    My desease name was SGE and started in Madagascar. First of all I sold my starting symptom (in my case, sneezing)I put resistance level 2 to all except for drugs. Then I put all the types of Transmission and wait until day 50 and
    all the countries were infected. Then I only put cough for make the transmission faster. Then I only started to put my Symptoms. I put sweating, diarrhea and hypersensitivity. I keep waiting until a hae 20 evolution points and I buy the “unlock tier IV” and buy more symptoms like hearth failure and when I bought it blindness and insanity were activated.
    They died in this order (just for fun xD): Greenland, New Zeland, Cuba, Australia, Madagascar, Argentina, Peru, Russia, South Africa, Mexico, Canada, Brasil, Japan, Middle East, East Europe, Indonesia, USA, India, West Europe, North Africa and finally China.

    Easy game really peeps jsut a matter of patience sell 1st symptom to get visibility to 0 and just get insect airbourne waterbourne and rodents but most important thing is get drugs up to iv then get heat/cold up to 2 (depending on which place u start on) eg Middle east heat russia cold then get moisture 2 and then as u get through the game upgrade all of them when everyone is infected and some kickass symptoms to kill them. In order of what to do 1. get cold/hot up to 2 2. get drugs up to iv 3. get insect and rodent to spread 4. after a while u will start to spread now get moisture to 2. 5. now get airbourne and waterbourne 6. now if it hasnt already infected the world get cold and heat and moisture to max u can afford 7. if the world is infected completely u have won (Practically) unless they get a vaccine which if u have drug iv ( explained earlier) should take a while. 8. time to kill get every virus u want because by this time u should have quite alot of evolution points fever, sweating, fatigue, sores insanity worked for me but if you want to develop your own it doesnt really matter as long as you have lethal symtoms the world will (eventually) die. If it goes well message back and tell me likewise if it goes wrong message and tell me what you did and if i see something wrong ill tell u. aNaThOmA was my disease!

    3. Buy level 3 of the other resistances (level 2 if it is your durable trait).
    4. Wait until every region has someone infected.
    5. Buy waterborne transmission.
    6. Buy airborne transmission.
    7. Buy insect transmission.
    8. Buy rodent transmission.
    9. Wait until everyone is infected.
    10. Buy symptoms (buy the ones that say that they are infectious in the description).
    11. Watch ‘em disappear like Houdini.

    I’ve gotten Madagascar 3 times in 1 day, FACT, NO LIE. One good place to start out in is Australia. Depending on what your starting resistance is, buy the 2nd level of it, then sell your starting symptom. Then after this is all done, get airborne. Wait until you get at least 10 or 20 evolution points then buy waterborne and make sure you have AT LEAST level 1 resistance on everything, then when the game gets into it, get your drug resistance up, this makes it so the hospitals close, which then make it so everyone can spread it easier. Then when you have that done, these are the symptoms you should have in order to win: Fever, the Hypertension one, Kidney Failure and all the other Failures, then after you have those look for the symptoms that don’t really increase your visibility, but are lethal. This always works about 95% of the time and yes, it is possible to get Madagascar infected w/o starting in it, but it is better to start in Madagascar.

    Umm, I have a few suggestions. And complaints. Every one knows how bad Madagascar is to get, but everyone frogets about how hard it is to get to Greenland and Peru. Madagascar is still the hardest, but those contries are hard to get to. And also, if you are desprate to win the game, do it on relaxed, it’s much easier.

    My strategy (won twice)

    Heat/Cold 1 (depending on which one you have)
    Drug 1
    Waterborne
    Moisture 1
    Drug 2
    Drug 3

    and wait.

    Also, you can either go for infectivity or detectability, depending on whether you keep your first symptom or not.

    DONT BY NEW SYMPTOMS UNTIL YOU INFECT THE WHOLE PLANET.

    PS Madagascar is really tricky to get and i got lucky all the rest of the countries are easier to infect than madagascar if you follow my instructions u may or may not get madagascar

    I don’t think that one strategy works. It depends on your starting spot, it seems. I’ve won with completely different strategies, and without repeat success of any given strategy.

    With virus, you do not need to add transmissability.

    Definitely SELL your first symptom. If you start with airborne built in, start over.

    Buy, rodent, air, insect…

    Leave the game going for awhile, and you will accrue points without actually spreading the disease (it toggles between (6-30 infected). When you have over 60 points, start by buying the opposite resistance of the country you are in (eg. canada, buy heat then moisture). When more points come, buy cold. Fill to IV before moving on to the next attribute. Once every country is infected, the rest is easy.

    I got madagascar as my starting country (yeaa), parasite.. rodent to begin with, the water, last airborne and insect. As you get evopoints.. pack on the moist, heat, cold, drug resistance before getting the disease visible.. when you have infected the whole world.. Crush em with all the worst you can afford. Hopefully you have got what it takes so you have beaten them before they have completed their vaccine..

    So I’ve been analyzing this game for hours (because I have no social life), trying to find a way to consistently infect Madagascar. As it happens, six out of my last eight games have done just that, so I think I may have a strategy – one that’s a bit counterintuitive. It actually encourages early symptom purchasing.

    Here’s what I’ve observed:
    Madagascar doesn’t close its ship yards until the disease obtains a level of global renown. Visibility affects this, tipping off the governments of the world if visibility is too high. Yet even with zero visibility, the disease still gets noticed if a lot of people are infected, and it’s only a matter of time before Madagascar is closed for business.

    So it seems to me that not only should we keep visibility low at the onset, but we also need to keep the number of infected people down as well. If we can infect every country in the world but keep the numbers down, we’ll have a lot more time to infect Madagascar.

    Of course the obvious problem with this is that if a region has only 16 or so infections, then it can’t really infect other regions like Madagascar. Thus my strategy is to boost up the starting region, get it as infected as possible, and then use it to infect the other regions, while keeping everyone else’s numbers down.

    Easier said than done. In the beginning, you need to make the disease as infectious as possible, or else it won’t spread throughout your starting region. However, if you boost up the disease in your starting region, that same boost will help it spread through other regions, something we want to avoid (we need to keep the numbers down).

    Fortunately, the game gives us a way to temporarily boost infectivity, using the purchase and later sale of symptoms. Early on, we purchase infective symptoms like sneezing or vomiting. Of course this hurts us in the visiblility department, but as long as we’re just a local problem, Madagascar won’t look twice. Then later, as we begin to spread to other regions, we sell off our symptoms; this brings our visibility back down to zero, and lowers our infectivity as well (this is good; remember we want to keep the number of infections down in non-starting regions).

    At the same time, you also want to avoid purchasing resistances, because they help your disease to spread by limiting the number of people cured. We want regions to be infected, but only with a couple of carriers; that way we can fly under Madagascar’s radar.

    Transmission boosts are something we generally want to avoid as well, for the same reason. I make an exception for rodents, however; I have an unconfirmable suspicion that they help spread the disease by boat, like plague rats did hundreds of years ago. Perhaps I’m being superstitious, but any chance to get into Madagascar’s shipyard is one I’m willing to take.

    At any rate, once the disease starts spreading to other regions, we get to sit around and wait. Make some popcorn and grab your knitting; it’s going to be a while before we read those beautiful words, “Disease spotted in Madagascar.” Price of being the least infectious infectious disease out there, I suppose.

    However, once humanity’s last refuge is breached, things get a bit more exciting; infecting Madagascar is half the battle. The other half is a mixture of Peru and the upcoming vaccine.

    With this strategy, Peru probably hasn’t been infected yet, since the only way into the country is through its borders, and the surrounding countries should only have maybe a couple hundred infections by now. If that’s the case, just boost up your moisture resistance and go crazy with transmission agents and infectious symptoms; with luck the surrounding countries will soon provide enough infected emigrants to start a population in Peru.

    Next of course comes the inevitable vaccine. You may want to boost up your drug resistance; it’ll help prolong the vaccination’s completion date by a few days. However your primary protection against the humans’ weapon is to start killing people and thereby shut down the hospitals.     Easy way to beat Pandemic 2:

    It doesn’t matter what you choose (Virus, etc), and it also doesn’t matter what country you start in. When you start off, sell your first symptom so that your visibility is zero. Then buy drug resistance up to four. Then buy the rest but only to one. Then buy rodent. Then buy the rest of the resistance only to three. Then get insect, waterborne. Wait for a bit and then get airborne. Wait until every country is red and then unlock all the tiers and get every deadly and infectious disease. Sit back and watch everyone die, folks.

    Greenland is insane. Multiple times I’ve infected them and the rest of the world (minus Madagascar/Peru) and Greenland flat out refuses to close their airport. On one occasion every person in Greenland died, and their airport remained open throughout the spread of disease and extermination of the population. The last person in Greenland must have died operating that airport.

    Alright, everyone seems to be forgetting one thing-YOUR PERSONALITY MAKES A SERIOUSLY HUGE DIFFERENCE IN THIS GAME! If you’re too impatient, there is little to no chance of parasite working for you. If you’re too passive, virus isn’t going to end well. Just remember that if you play to your strengths, you’ve already got the advantage.

    That said, I personally find parasite to be the most useful; while it does go slow, if you decrease your visibility until it’s completely undetectable, you can infect the whole world without them knowing. Then pile on the lethal symptoms, and cause the apocalypse early.

    I used this strategy and won twice in a row with like 160,000 points…
    1)Pick any type of disease (I prefer virus since it’s faster, parasite is also a god choice if you want a lower visibility)
    2)Pray that you start in Madagascar or New Zealand
    3)Buy sneezing and sell your other starting symptoms (unless you started with that)
    4)Buy all level 1 resistances except drugs (no transmissions, because they trigger closures)
    5)Wait until 4-5 countries are infected, then sell sneezing to get rid of visibility.
    6)Wait until every country has someone infected (hope that Madagascar doesn’t close its borders or shipyards or else you’re screwed). Buy all 4 drug resistances, sneezing, coughing and vomiting.
    7)After a few days, buy tiers 2 and 3. Keep whatever symptoms it gives you.
    8) Buy fever, fatigue, diarrhea, pulmonary edema and hypersensitivity. When you get enough evolution points, buy ataxia/kidney failure/any other lethal symptoms.
    9)Watch the world die in front of your screen! :)
