Destruction of information

I wonder if Newsvine ever realizes, what kind of destruction of information they did. Luckily the book burning in Internet is much harder and I was able to rescue several articles with Google cache. At the moment I’ve been able to save articles from following categories: 1) Urban Warrior, 2) ant, 3) snow, 4) virtual web hybrid and 5) humour. Totally about 20 articles and over 30 images is now safe. I have not yet decided, were will I put them, but I’ll let you know.

And talking about irony… my last comment was made in An Official Drollhouse Apology.

There is a secret, elitist cult of high-ranking and super-powerful Newsviners that, unbeknown to you, are really the power behind this website.

While prankster can on purpose brake the rules and boast about it afterwards.

We’re sorry the staff didn’t ban us.

I got banned.

    We did break the rules and were allowed to stay. However, last weekend, viki’s account got suspended and I got “The Warning” from Emily…..so no one is immune. You were treated unfairly, Pasi. I hope you get this fixed and come back soon. We miss you.

    Trying to recover articles via the Google Cache is probably a waste of time considering no information has been destroyed in the first place. Your account is just disabled, that’s all. If you want all of your content sent to you, just let us know. Additionally, if you want your account re-enabled and your stuff republished, this is also possible. Since there’s been response (even now) to e-mail warnings, your account was disabled. Nothing more to it than that.

    Viki got suspended? Sheer madness. Maybe I can understand Walt, because of numerous chicken rights violations.

    Anyway, if nothing else this gives them a chance to recalibrate how they do things.

    I am still baffled by the ‘email us and we’ll fix it’ comments. Just fix it. Or don’t.

    Cash: Viki’s account got “suspended” as a favor to her (for about an hour) because of an account security issue that was thereafter resolved. Not because she did anything wrong.
