To run your own firm, you don’t need even garage anymore. All you need is the Internet connection. Besides computer and Internet, some equipment, like camera are useful, depending on what kind of content you decide to produce. But if you wish, you can start without capital and use free sites and do payed blogging. The risks are low, because you don’t have to make big investments in the beginning. And if you decide, you can totally legally without violating copyrights, to build a portal, share information and take your share from the web earnings.

The demands of money are lower, but the demands of knowledge raise. You need a lot of knowledge like technology, marketing, some legal understanding (copyright and contracts), etc. So Internet enterprising may not be as easy as it first sounds. Instead of searching for funding, you’ll have to spend your time to learn – information equals money.

And, IMO, social skills are one of the most important skill with web 2.0. People are the fuel of your social enterprise. If you want to make something lasting, you’ll have to be able to build and MAINTAIN a community.
