This is my second article about entry strategies to social networks. The first one about front attack was written in 31.12.2007.
Side Attack
With side attack, blogger or new member chooses a certain subject or a target group, which does not exist yet. If something is already popular, side attacker searches other topics. And if he/she does not gain success, the target group can easily be changed. Because there are no other players on the field, there is more liberty and space.
Few weeks ago, I found Freeciv, an open source pc game and I installed it on my Vista PC. Now I’v played with it quite much, and I’ll have to say, that it’s a good game.
Freeciv can be downloaded from Freeciv.org (download freeciv). It can be installed to Vista and seems to work fine with it. Several languages are supported, and Finnish was default for me.

Freeciv is empire-building strategy game inspired by the history of human civilization. You will start with your tribe at 4000 BC and the final objective is to send a ship to the space. The game goes much like Sid Meier’s Civilization, so if you are familiar with it, you learn to play easily. The interface is different, so that may take some time to learn.

In Freeciv you can choose the nations for players. In this screenshot, Finnish flag is waving at Uppsala

In Freeciv, you can easily see the connections between research.
