If you are planning to establish your own blog with your own domain, the first thing to do is to search a suitable web host. And before choosing one, there are some important criteria, besides the prize, you should consider, before making the deal.

- The prize: As I said, there are other things than costs, but the costs are of course one of the most important things. And to get the best prize, you should always ask for bids. If you check out different providers, you may save a lot of money. You may even find out, that someone may do something for free, which would cost you a lot of money with different provider. Bur remember, if you are paying nothing you will get nothing.

- The duration of the contract: Check out the details in the offers you will receive. If you are not careful, you may be committed to longer time, that you really would like to. And if you are not satisfied with the service, there has to be a way to get rid off the deal in reasonable time with reasonable costs.

- Can you change something later: Before making the deal, you should consider, could there be a need to change the some details later and are does the contract allow you to do that. Once again, if you are not careful, this may cost you money.

- The terms of the contract: Usually there is something about Force Major, but if the web hotel does not even provide backups, you are not buying services but troubles. And are you really willing to pay anything for a provider, who does not guarantee anything.

-The whole package: Try to get all or at least most of the components from the same provider. If you buy domain from one places, web site from other and blog software from the third provider, you’ll have to manage three contracts and not just one.

If you are blogging for money, you should go for the high Google PageRank. Actually you could say, that the better your Google PageRank is, the more money you will make. Google PageRank is a meter used by most web 2.0 earnings companies. No matter if you are selling post, links or ads, the better Google PageRank you have, the better opportunities you will get.

Do you know your PageRank? Usually it may exist already at your browser, but in case you don’t know, you can check it out with this Google PageRank Checker.

One basic thing to do with new blog is to claim it at Technorati. By claiming your blog at Technorati, you can follow the popularity of your blog and with some luck get some visitors too. Technorati provides information about your blog popularity and provides more visibility. To find out more, check Technorati Profile.

I just installed OpenOffice.org 2.0 on my Vista Acer. Installation was easy and went with no problems. The most of the time, about 30 minutes, went for the downloading the software. The installation took less than 10 minutes and answering the survey took few minutes too. I choose OpenOffice, because it is free even for business users and not just for home users.

To do

I have planned, few things, I should do with my blog for next three months. While the main purpose is to use blog for payed blogging, it takes few months, before I can make my blog accepted by the web 2.0 blogging companies. Meanwhile I have to concentrate on writing and promoting my blog. And it is important to remember the difference between promoting and spamming. It can happen quite easily, that blog is identified to spam blog and there goes the virtual value.

However here is few task, I’m going to do during next three months:

- make a disclosure policy for the blog, which is needed for payed blogging
- add my blog to Technorati and Blogspot, which are blog directories and which will improve my traffic
- start to add link to my blog to my email closure
- change my homepage address to my profiles at different sites, such as Netscape, Digg etc.
- then write about this blog at other blogs
- and of course create such information products, which will attract people now and in the future

Hopefully after three months, I have a PageRank big enough to get better offers than I do now, with my other blog.
