I’ve had Google Analytics on my web site (Virtual Storage). Besides Google Analytics, I have used Your Counter and IPstat. And after using several months for them, you could say, that I can evaluate their results.
Yesterday I noticed at IPstat, that I’ve had visitors from India. This is not that common, so I became interested in, what is this about. From the Your Counter, I found out, that visitors from India, were coming to my site by Google search. I also found out, that there were totally four visits from different IPs, with google.co.in/search?hl=en, but neither IPstat or Your Counter, does not tell, which were the keywords used with searches. So I went to Google Analytics to find out it. I was quite disappointed to notice, that there was not a single visit registered during that time (21.9.2007).
As I compared IPstat and Your Counter, I did not find conflict with data, though Your Counter seems to provide information a little later than IPstat. So the problem seems to be with Google Analytics.
It seems, that I’ll have to study this more, but meanwhile my trust on Google Analytics is quite low. I wonder, if there is some kind of intelligence in the analytics, and it does not work well in every situation.
Pictures: Visits from India can be seen at Your Counter, but not at Google Analytics.
